Facebook Analytics was launched in 2015 and was Facebook’s (now called Meta) response to Google Analytics. It was created to connect the data from your Facebook page with data coming from your website (through the Facebook pixel) and show the full path to an eventual conversion.

Note: Facebook Pixel is a few lines of code that are used to track your user’s behaviour and get insights into your audience.

Small to Medium Businesses were able to access important information about their audience for free. We were able to figure out how well our social media marketing efforts were progressing and see what worked and what didn’t. This new change can have small businesses feeling lost, so we’re going to give you some other alternatives at different costs.

Facebook Business Suite

If you don’t need a lot of info to track the growth of your account, then you can use Facebook new tool Business Suite. To be honest, we don’t find it very useful for social media reporting, but it does let you schedule posts, and offers capabilities related to insights, messaging and advertising. It’s good to use if you’re trying to manage your business’s social media strategy and are doing it yourself. You can use it on both your desktop or mobile device, so it’s easier to manage your business on the go.

We also find it to be useful in addition to Facebook Ads Manager and Ads reporting whenever we do any promoted ads.

Hootsuite Analytics

Hootsuite is a social media management tool that lets you schedule, analyse and manage all the important social media platforms.

It lets you monitor your:

  • Clicks
  • Reach
  • Comments
  • Shares
  • Video shares
  • Video reach
  • Follower stats
  • Post-performance

Hootsuite compiles all this information into simple reports that you can customize and download into CVS, PDF and PowerPoint files. It also lets you track things like response times, productivity, etc.

The best thing about Hootsuite is that it works with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest AND Youtube. Manage all your social media in one place.

Facebook Creator Studio

Creator studio is similar to Facebook Insights, except it’s targeted more towards creators. It lets you track your engagement, video views and engagement, stories etc. Everything is up on an easy-to-read dashboard so you’ll be able to figure out what’s going on at a glance. We’d recommend checking Creator Studio out if your business posts a lot of videos and you want to track how well they are doing.

Buffer

Buffer is similar to Hootsuite, but it lets you manage multiple Facebook Groups and LinkedIn pages on top of the usual main platforms. It also lets social media management agencies like us work in harmony with our clients. You can decide whether clients are able to post on their pages or require approval before posting so that it can be double-checked by your team.

Buffer was made to be a flexible tool, so you can manage your accounts from anywhere -and I mean anywhere in the world. It’s super work-from-home friendly and has a mobile app for social media managing when you’re literally on the go

We’d say Buffer is definitely one of the best reporting tools for social media these days because it provides in-depth insights into practically everything, keywords, hashtags, engagement, you name it.

Why do you need to track your social media analytics?

By tracking your performance on social media, you gain an insight into how your audience behaves. What they like, what they don’t like, etc. These are all things that are absolutely crucial to your long term business plan. It also lets you figure out what kind of sponsored ads are working and what style of content or designs work best with your audience. All things you need to know if you want to make a lasting digital impression on your customers.
